'An Object-Based Truthmaker Semantics for Modals'. Philosophical Issues Volume28, Issue1, October 2018, pp. 255-288

Abstract: This paper outlines a new semantics of modals that aims to overcome various difficulties for standard modal logic, especially standard deontic logic. This semantics is based on an a novel ontology of modal objects, entities like obligations, permissions, as well as epistemic states, abilities, and essences. Moreover, it is based on truthmaking in the sense of Fine's recent truthmaker semantics.
